Funimation has not learned at all from their past incidents as the casting couch company has still continued to alter dialogue to pander to feminists and those who don’t even watch anime, as it was discovered that the first episode of Kono yo no Hate de Koi wo Utau Shoujo YU-NO‘s dub changed the original dialogue to include Shimazu calling the protagonist a misogynist.
The brief scene was meant to be humorous, but Funimation concluded that the moment did not include enough man-hating – the English dub, which has Shimazu being offended by the protagonist’s “cat-calling”:

Those familiar with Funimation’s politically-inclined leftist agenda likely already know that this isn’t the first time the company has forcibly altered dialogue to pander to man-hating ideologues, as their dub of Prison School decided to reference GamerGate and their translation of Hajimete no Gal slandered those who enjoy naughty novels.
When confronted on the matter years ago, Funimation naturally played the victim by saying that “making threats or doxxing is not acceptable” – they also mentioned that they “welcome criticism”, but considering they’ve continued to insert their agenda into their works, it is evident that this isn’t the case:

Not to mention Funimation adds cuss words where there were none in the original and throws in a whole bunch of slang lingo you see often used on the internet by kids.
Also they made Issei in Highschool DxD speak Jive for some weird reason in the dub.
This also isn’t the first time Funimation played the misogynist card. They did it with Maken Ki Season 2s dub in Episode 9 if I remember correctly. Wasn’t there in the original dialogue but very things are in a Funi dub!
And don’t forget how they tried to turn Goku into Superman in the DBZ dub.

Generally speaking, good shows and popular shows get appropriately good dubs, while uguu SOL whatever shows get the C teams. Your big recent shounens get fine dubs. Your high budget marquee western-oriented shows like Space Dandy, Carole & Tuesday, other Netflix shows, etc get good dubs. Honestly Western companies probably learned from Haruhi, which had a fine dub, but everyone hated it anyway, so why would they bother putting in effort to more otaku-rancid shows?

I’m not anti dub, but even I can’t watch a Funimation dub without cringing so fucking hard. They really don’t give the original script much respect.
I can’t imagine there’s anyone out there who can speak Japanese and watch both the original and the dub and think the English audio is good. The scripts are so different its like watching a completely different show.
Japanese and English are entirely different languages and cultures and don’t actually translate directly. Japanese people essentially speak like poetic cavemen, in terms of sentence structure. English has a lot more nuance to it, and is capable of much more interesting dialogue than “kuso yarou!!” and other canned phrases. The later parts of Bleach’s dub were essentially copy-pastes of the Japanese script and it was fucking terrible. Direct translation is not good dialogue.

Even so, the translation between US and Japanese cultures arent that different, even an idiot would be able to change it to something related, instead of changing the meaning completely, or even adfing politics into it.

As someone who watches subs let me point out how much of a sub elitist bandwagon is going on down below…
The ridiculous part is I can guarantee with 100% accuracy that none of you know Japanese… So whatever you think you know about the language, VAs, expression, etc, you don’t know s♥♥t… You wouldn’t even be able to tell if the VA fucked up a line/emotion/expression/phrase, etc.
Watching Anime doesn’t make you Japanese. That’s the same reason non of you realise that the majority of the shows you watch are fansubbed, which is no different than dub.
Imagine a situation where you think you know s♥♥t and can be critical even though you don’t know a single thing about the language.
