Halia Abdel-Meguid Selected to Write for New Live Action Netflix Death Note Movie

The upcoming second live action Death Note Netflix film, which will allegedly “stick to the source material”, now has Halia Abdel-Meguid selected as the writer and executive producer, bound to immediately have some wondering whether it will be better or worse than the first film.

Abdel-Meguid claims to be a “longtime fan” of the series, speaks Japanese, and previously lived in Tokyo. Her past works include writing for “Miss Annity”, “Adamantine”, “The Muse”, and “Monsters of Philadelphia”.

Abdel-Meguid is also serving as a writing consultant with the Duffer Brothers on a series adaptation of Stephen King and Peter Straub’s novel “The Talisman”.

Producers from the 2017 Netflix Death Note will also be returning, such as Dan Lin (Rideback) and Roy Lee (Vertigo) serving as executive producers, and Jonathan Eirich (Rideback) and Miri Yoon (Vertigo) who will take on the role of co-exec producers.

With so many people from the first movie returning for the second, many will be wondering if Netflix has learned nothing from all the negative criticism and poor performance of the first movie.
