The upcoming second live action Death Note Netflix film, which will allegedly “stick to the source material”, now has Halia Abdel-Meguid selected as the writer and executive producer, bound to immediately have some wondering whether it will be better or worse than the first film.
Abdel-Meguid claims to be a “longtime fan” of the series, speaks Japanese, and previously lived in Tokyo. Her past works include writing for “Miss Annity”, “Adamantine”, “The Muse”, and “Monsters of Philadelphia”.
Abdel-Meguid is also serving as a writing consultant with the Duffer Brothers on a series adaptation of Stephen King and Peter Straub’s novel “The Talisman”.
Producers from the 2017 Netflix Death Note will also be returning, such as Dan Lin (Rideback) and Roy Lee (Vertigo) serving as executive producers, and Jonathan Eirich (Rideback) and Miri Yoon (Vertigo) who will take on the role of co-exec producers.
With so many people from the first movie returning for the second, many will be wondering if Netflix has learned nothing from all the negative criticism and poor performance of the first movie.
Another Netflix abortion, which will serve as a slap in the face to Death Note fans. Bringing in some random thot, won’t change anything.
Dude lives in murika and automatically things every female is a thot. Sadge country.

FFS, is it really too much to hire experienced, highly qualified people for the job? All you have to do is look at her writing experience and know she’s a bad decision. Of course, it takes much less talent to adapt an existing story, so I guess that’s why she was hired.
Also, if she’s a fan, lets see the proof. Show us her manga collection, merch, and Twitter comments on the series. I’m sick of people pretending to be fans of the IPs they intend to r♥♥e.
Why not ask tge fucking original author to do your script you imbeciles.
No it has to be Muslim women, point out all the places she has been to and her unimpressive work portfolio.
the previous film was co-produced by the original author
Co-produced doesn’t actually mean much.
Waste more money on this garbage. Netflix bankrupts itself and their stock tanks.
Netflix already lost subscribers, they need to collapse badly, bye bye Netflix. It’s sad to see my brother keeps losing money to Netflix and he got his money stolen from them too. I’d told him to unlink his card….
