Hololive China Officially Disbanding, Virtual YouTubers “Graduating”

Cover, the Japanese company managing the Virtual YouTuber talents from Hololive, has now officially announced the Chinese talent branch of the organization is disbanding.

Previously, Civia, one of the Hololive CN talents, held a stream explaining the Chinese branch will be dissolved soon, and now Cover has made the decision official.

The official Twitter message from the Hololive EN account announcing the “graduation” of the Chinese talents along with the dates of their respective graduations:

While Cover didn’t provide a written reason for this decision, the move was more than likely to distance themselves from the Chinese market after the fiasco involving two of their Japanese VTubers, Kiryuu Coco and Akai Haato, mentioning Taiwan on their streams, which resulted in a major controversy and got them suspended for three weeks.
