In a surprise announcement, CD Projekt RED’s ambitious sci-fi game Cyberpunk 2077 will be getting an anime adaptation by Studio Trigger to premiere on Netflix.
The 10-episode anime will follow a street urchin becoming an edgerunner, a special mercenary that undertakes difficult and dangerous jobs on the futuristic cyberpunk city streets.

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners tells a standalone, 10-episode story about a street kid trying to survive in a technology and body modification-obsessed city of the future. Having everything to lose, he chooses to stay alive by becoming an edgerunner—a mercenary outlaw also known as a cyberpunk.
CD Projekt RED, the company behind the Cyberpunk 2077 video game, is producing the series, with a creative team formed of talent from The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, and Cyberpunk 2077. The team at CD Projekt RED has been working on this new series since 2018.
Acclaimed Japan-based animation company, Studio Trigger, will serve as the animation studio on the series and bring the world of Cyberpunk to life with their signature, vibrant style. Hiroyuki Imaishi (Gurren Lagann, Kill la Kill, Promare) will direct the series along with assistant director Masahiko Otsuka (Gurren Lagann, Promare), creative director Hiromi Wakabayashi (Kill la Kill), character designers Yoh Yoshinari (Little Witch Academia, BNA: Brand New Animal) and Yuto Kaneko (Little Witch Academia), and the adapted screenplay by Yoshiki Usa (SSSS.GRIDMAN, Promare) and Masahiko Otsuka (Gurren Lagann, Kill la Kill, Promare).
The original score will be composed by Akira Yamaoka (Silent Hill series).
Cyberpunk 2077 will now release on November 19th for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
The Cyberpunk 2077: Edgerunners anime will premiere on Netflix sometime in 2022.

Every time this game comes up i keep getting reminded of a very underrated indie title ‘Ruiner’ , which was made by the original developers of Cyberpunk 2077.
It’s currently on Sale on steam, for 5 bucks. Quite the steal.

The TV series was such a great hit because the Witcher 3 was a very successful and popular game. The TV series was announced after The Witcher 3’s success and popularity was plain obvious. If the game wasn’t as popular, it wouldn’t have been adapted by Netflix in the first place because Netflix doesn’t want to produce some adaptation of some video game that is based on some “obscure” series of novels and caters to a nerdy niche audience, like the first two Witcher games did.
Let’s key in on the fact that the Show was announced AFTER the game became POPULAR and SUCCESSFUL.
The Witcher 3 is a good game created by a team of capable game developers, that’s why it was as well received as it was.
Quite a lot of these capable developers have left CD Projekt between after The Witcher 3 and now, with Cyberpozz being stuck in development hell for quite some time now, being delayed over and over again, with the only things to show off being a few E3 trailers (aka. nothing) and some leaks about gimmicky bs like genitalia size sliders.
But wait a minute… the game isn’t even released and it remains yet unknown how well it will be received by the audience, and STILL there’s already a show in production?
Now what if the game isn’t going to live up to the hype, expectations and quality standards set by The Witcher 3, a game developed by an almost entirely different team of developers that almost all quit CD Projekt and have been replaced by diversity hires?
No one is going to be interested in some anime adaption of some shitty SJW influenced garbage game, that’s what is going to happen.
