Those hoping to see Dragon Quest XII sometime in the near future may, unfortunately, have quite a while to wait, as Dragon Quest creator Yuji Horii has mentioned that the next entry is “still many years away”.
Speaking at developer conference “CEDEC + KYUSHU 2018”, president and CEO of game company Level-5 asked Yuji Horii about progress on the 12th entry into the long-lasting RPG franchise – who answered by saying that he already managed to come up with “keywords”, but can’t say any more on the subject:
I actually already came up with the keywords, but I can’t say anything here. (Laughs.)
However, since Dragon Quest XI‘s scenario was well-received, this time I want the same reception for the gameplay systems, but I could also surprise everyone and make it an epic. Now I just feel like teasing everyone. (Laughs.)
I keep absentmindedly thinking about making the theme the feeling of “wanting to make dreams come true.”
Horii concluded by divulging that Dragon Quest XII is “still many years away”, a predictable turn of events taking into account how long it took Dragon Quest XI to be completed.
Just cleared the game, I can say they did an awesome job with the story. Damn, the revelation at the ending of the game just had me speechless. Horii can have as long s he want, as long he comes up with a gem as great as this one.
Give them all the time they need, i really enjoyed DQXI, a really good jrpg
Ok guys, what do you think about making it about a “hero” and a “villain”? We also need a “love interest” and a “plot”. I think with those keywords we can lay back for 2-3 years until the media annoys us too much.
DQXI was my 2018 GOTY and easily the best DQ yet. Take all the time you need, Horii. Just please don’t make XII another multiplayer centric offshoot. Last tome you did that the west didn’t even get that game (DQX).
what i want is them to release on the switch so i can grind on the go
