Ubisoft Instaban Players Who Say “Nigger”

Yet another western video game publisher has taken to policing the speech of their players with unprecedented vigor, Ubisoft having implemented a system in Rainbow Six: Siege that immediately bans players who use “racially insensitive” language.

It began when numerous players were claiming to have been banned for using racial slurs and other foul language in-game, with one individual even posting a video demonstrating that the extreme language can lead to a ban within 18 seconds:

Players did not take to kindly to this new and rapid system, with complaints directed towards Rainbow Six: Siege’s Twitter account leading to the developers unveiling their true colors and agenda in policing what people can and can’t say:

According to PC Gamer, the newly implemented system can ban players within seconds of using such harmless words, with the first offense leading to a 30-minute ban, 2nd offense being 24-hours and a 3rd possibly invoking a permanent ban.

Critics online couldn’t help but realize the developer’s intentions are contradictory considering the game itself is rated M and is labeled as having “strong language”, though apparently this first step is part of their initiative toward “battling toxicity” they mentioned in a previous blog post – Ubisoft being what it is, players can doubtless expect to be banned without recourse or human intervention in the near future as the process is hived off to a third rate AI, losing access to all their games in the process.
