China’s world-class high speed trains are again facing safety doubts after a pigeon shattered its “super strong bulletproof glass” windscreen, in what Chinese media points out as a “once in a century” freak accident.
The CRH380 is said to employ “super strong bulletproof glass” in its windscreen, and China’s state media quotes an astonished passenger as exclaiming “such an unusual event can only happen once a century!”
One of the experts at China’s safety glass inspectorate offered the assurance that “this glass is completely unbroken from an impact with an aluminium ball travelling at 500kph.”
The train’s makers also promise that “we conduct our safety test over 200,000 times – the glass window is 6 layers thick and will absolutely not break.”
Unfortunately, whilst proof against aluminium balls and bullets, it appears not to be proof against the humble Chinese pigeon – whose lead content cannot be all that high even in China, although at least the train was confirmed as actually having been in motion at the time of the impact, having just left its station:
Safety problems with the trains China so assiduously copied from their former foreign partners which were carefully investigated by burying the wrecked trains eventually resulted in the head of China’s national rail fiefdom losing his job, but for some reason many Chinese still have doubts about the network.
another reason why birds should not drink and fly. -_-
“super strong bulletproof glass” if bullet cant break it pigeons can…..
well what would you expect its made in china
China menaced by exploding Pigeons. =)
For those concern on security matters in china, I’m here to provide off some light to sprout some logic in your simple brains.
First place english is not my first language but I am not chinese.
I know it’s too much of doubt hear from a chinese person saying-like “this can only happen one time to hundred years” and that’s honestly true.
To grasp a litle bit you all need to live (better leave) in china and marry a chinese girl.
I tell you why.
The glass of this 6 layered aluminum bullet proof windscreen is made of scraps old and unemployed people gather to make a “s♥♥t” living. The material used was not necessary glass and crystals.
The bullets were shot at pigeons to prevent them from shattering on the windscreen. But they left one.
They are all married to chinese wives so must probably they carried out the test conduction within a tremendous hangover.
The unfortuned pigeon was ill with chinese influenza and ate too much spicy food. The chinese pigeon can sneeze backwards when flying. Just before the shattering impact, the pigeon sneezed and farted (real thrust fart exist in china) reaching the speed of 204km/h at the impact moment, becoming and superangry fuchsia pigeon of level 3.
The train was leaving the station and already running 103kmph.
I dont know a s♥♥t about the pressure made from an object impact in opossite direction calculation, I just know someone said that all together get the token amount of 500.3km per hour.Pretty enough to crash it.
And for the most refined chinese measures. If exists the case possibility of this pigeon crashing throught all 6 layers, the driver can catch the pigeon with his own mouth. Smash all bones with his teeth, right away boil waters and pluck feathers to later eat dinner in the cabin.
hahahah first china steals the designs from a german company then claiming no it was theirs all along.
but this train hadn’t made max speed – it was JUST leaving the station and the bird hit while it was gaining speed.
so either this bulletproof glass is rated for NERF GUNS or they made it out of cheap-o s♥♥t.
Glad it did not explode…
