The latest in the apparently endless stream of opportunistically marketed moe goods are these allegedly delicious raw Japanese oysters (“kaki”), which are marketed with the rather incongruous aid of a schoolgirl on the tub.
Just why the manufacturers decided to eschew the more obvious choice of an “ama,” or traditional female pearl diver, often clad in gratuitously transparent clothing, is quite the mystery, although perhaps one easily solved considering the nature of their target audience…
A tub of raw oysters somehow seems a fitting nadir for this marketing trend.
