Capcom have finally announced the release date of the long awaited Street Fighter IV, making a surprise announcement at the end of their recent exhibition; SF IV is set to have a multiplatform console release in Febuary 2009, they say.
We also hear that the SF IV anime will be “long” and will have a fine seiyuu cast, though other details, such as the release asre still thin on the ground.
It’s not clear what exactly the composition of the anime will be, as they also reveal an OAD (OAV); whatever the case it looks as though they are keen to develop a mixed media franchise, which has historically been difficult for them…
Via Dengeki.
In ANN says that the videogame release will come with an anime dvd.
Is the same announced ova?
It looks that way, although there wasn’t much of an explicit mention in this source.
Thanks 😉
SFIV is more of a hybird of SFII and SFIII with a dash of Alpha characters like Sakura and Dan. It’s also CAPCOM’s first ever anime that will tie the canon to the multi-media. Since Capcom has a rule, the older SF game is always rectoned with new ones.
But Iam glad Sakura and Cammy are there in the anime! 2 of my favs! The new guys are still earning their stripes, now gameplay and story. Abel is the one leading the 4 new fighters.
seeing all the old characters back is a good thing
but somehow…the originality is not there anymore…
(I was hoping they come out with new set of characters)
SFIII 3rd Strike is probably the best SF series ever
and i have doubt that SF4 could gain that much fame compare to its predecessor
Sakura’s also a console-only character if I remember correctly. Perhaps an arcade patch a la Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection is in order? (hint-hint wink-wink, Capcom)
Cammy has not been announced yet, buy Sakura was playable at TGS. Let’s hope Sakura is as broken as she was in Alpha 3
