Live-Action Gudetama Show Lazily Drifts Onto Netflix

Gudetama, a wildly popular depressed egg mascot from Japan, will be adapted to live-action by Netflix in the form of Gudetama: Haha o Tazunete Donkurai (Gudetama: An Eggcellent Adventure), certain to have plenty of comedic moments that only a lazy sentient egg can bring about.

Gudetama, whose name comes from “gudegude”, an ideophone for something lazy and lacking energy, and tamago, the Japanese word for egg, was created by AMY for Sanrio in 2013, and since then, has gotten a toy line, comics, animated series, clothing apparel, a product line, and more, accruing over 1 million followers on Twitter as well.

Netflix released a “trailer” for the upcoming series, which has the sentient egg doing what he does best:

Omake:

Sometime in 2022 is when Gudetama’s new series will break forth from its shell.
