Nintendo announced their decision to delay Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp, remakes of their classic strategy war games, “in light of recent world events”, yet another opportunity for the company to virtue signal whilst doing nothing of actual value.
Nintendo cited “recent world events” as the reason for the delay, and many took the game’s story and gameplay mechanics into consideration and compared them to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine:
No new release date has been set, with only “TBD” shown on the shop page.
The reception to this announcement was mixed, with many people agreeing with the decision to delay the game, and others seeing it as a pointless move:

Become? Japan has always done this. With the tsunami’s and earthquakes, all media that even slightly resembled those tragedies were delayed or heavily edited. Hell even MGS 2 has some changes thanks to 9/11, and the original Advanced Wars global release did the same thing for 9/11. Don’t let your selective memory conjure up a fake boogeyman for you.
