The topic of Klee‘s old walk animation in Genshin Impact has been brought up as a point of discussion once again despite the fact that the animation was said to have been removed far before Klee was ever released.
One individual on Twitter brought the topic up again after sharing a video showing off Klee’s old and new walk cycles – one commenter pointed out however that the video crops out the “test version” disclaimer (the video was seemingly filched from a Reddit thread):
The Twitter user also alleged that Klee’s original walk animation was removed due to “sexual child exploitation” and/or to appease the Australian government, though there seems to be no official sources that directly assert this.
Many theorize that Klee’s unique walking animation was removed because the developer didn’t want to set a precedent in giving characters unique animations, instead opting to have all characters of the same body type use the same animations.

I think they getting hate for pulling unique character animations out of the game in order to churn out more copy/paste characters with a new skin instead of making them all feel distinct.
Honestly I think this is more realistic and a logical reason. Gacha games live and breathe through novelty and at the rate they’re going, they’ll be mired with how many look-a-likes they have in the game.
Is it copy/pasted from somewhere else? I know they removed the Ruin Guard laser beam before launch because it was directly lifted from BotW, but wasn’t aware of anything else.
A bunch of stuff in BOTW honestly looks to me like it was lifted out of (or very, very heavily inspired by) Nausicaa. The laser looks a lot like the God Warrior’s laser(s). Nausicaa has lots of gliding, too.
Most characters’ sprinting animation still is a straight rip-off of Nier Automata.
The video showed they were similiar, yes, but also distinctly different. There’s only so many ways to run.

The only logical reason is all l♥♥i characters have the same movement animation; remember, this is largely a mobile game (PC users won’t be troubled though), which can cause a riot in the long term if bombarded with new region patches
