Those familiar with the original Japanese Gameboy version of Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening may be disappointed with the remake as the new Link’s Awakening game for the Switch had the mermaid bikini item swapped out for a necklace like the censored Western release.
The original Japanese Gameboy version of Link’s Awakening involved a fisherman catching a bikini top, with Link being tasked with returning it to a mermaid:

Aside from the necklace, the original Gameboy Link’s Awakening (Japanese version) also had a female anthropomorphic Hippo character stripping partway out of a towel, exposing her breasts – the remake instead gave her clothing:
It seems Nintendo are rather eager to protect the innocence of their major IPs, and though an exact reason has not been stated, some might expect either the preservation of the game’s rating or an effort to “protect the children”.
Good thing I waited. It was already months back when I started thinking about Awakening’s story and easter eggs like “collecting Maron” that I grew suspicious of the remake. The game is supposed to have slightly bizarre undertones, which the creators of the remake either didn’t understand or didn’t like. Now a lot of that is lost, but at least there is still the original game to play.
What? The collecting Maron thing is still in the game; it’s no worse than the GB game was. Unless you speak Japanese, or play a romhack, there is no better version to play.
