In what may be a daily occurrence in the overpopulated country of China, a poor innocent newborn was found to have been thrown in the trash by a Chinese woman, who claimed that she knew of no other way of parting with him.
The mother put her newly birthed child into a bag and threw him into a bin at a rubbish recycling station outside her dormitory – a sanitation worker curious about the woman’s actions confronted her, who responded by telling the cleaner that “it was a dead dog”.
Covered in blood and umbilical cord still intact, the sanitation worker fished the poor child out of the trash (finding him whilst making sure all rubbish was “classified according to the rules”) and phoned the authorities; doctors ascertained that the newborn was healthy before he was given a new home at the Xiamen Social Welfare Institute.
Detained by police, the mother explained that she was a migrant worker and was unaware she was pregnant until she started giving birth in the bathroom – she admitted to abandoning her son and said that she had “no other way but to do so”.
She told police that she was incapable of supporting a child due to her single-mother status; it has yet to be determined whether or not she will be dealt charges, but according to Chinese law, parents who desert their children can be incarcerated for up to five years.
Stories of child abandonment have been a norm all over the world. If you keep up with the news you’d hear about a woman dumping her baby somewhere every now and then. It’s awful.
I feel sorry for the child and I hope they never find out that their mom never wanted them. It’s not something anyone should have to go through.
I think probably the worst case I heard was of that woman living in an assisted living facility. She had been in a coma since her own childhood and one of the nurses was raping her unconscious body. No one realized she was pregnant until she gave birth to a boy. They used DNA testing to figure out who the father is. I think the family ( who wasn’t even visiting her ) took custody of the child, but I have trouble believing that was any better.
I’d almost the child be adopted out and his past hidden from him. Sometimes the truth is cruel. If you think your mother gave you away because she simply didn’t have the resources to care for you and wanted you to be happier with another family -> it’s much kinder than knowing your mother couldn’t have ever wanted you because she’s essentially brain dead, her family took you in from obligation, and your father is a rapist.

Honestly, most moms didn’t want their kid in the first place. A lot of pregnancies were actually not planned lol There is a stage that one must come to accept her kid or just to do abortion. Some may think they can accept the kid and then have a change of mine after the baby was born. Btw, China will no longer “overpopulated”. In fact, they will have a problem of not having enough children…nah but not like any of us in here cares.
