Persona 5: The Royal Dated, New Characters & Scenario Confirmed

Atlus has revealed the release date for Persona 5: The Royal, confirmed the identity of two new characters and also revealed a “third semester” scenario.

The first day of the Persona Super Live 2019 concert has now passed and the release date for Persona 5: The Royal has been divulged as the 31st of October for Japan. The Western release will come in 2020 – the latest PV:

Two new characters have also been revealed:

Kasumi Yoshizawa (seiyuu: Sora Amamiya)

Takuto Maruki (seiyuu: Satoshi Hino)

Those hoping for a FeMC will be disappointed to hear that Kasumi is a mere classmate and potential love interest for Joker. Kasumi has been described as a rhythmic gymnast and perfectionist who transfers to Shujin Academy in the spring. She desires Joker, but seems to reject the Phantom Thieves.

Kasumi is a Persona user and can be seen fighting alongside them for at least part of the game, although fans who played the original will know that there is a precedent for allies turning into enemies.

Takuto Maruki is a school counselor who is hired after the incidents involving a perverted teacher.

Relatively little information has been given regarding the third semester scenario, although it will involve a trip to a shrine for Hatsumode (on New Year’s Day), during which the female characters will wear yukatas.

An unnamed young man has also been shown, with his black hair, blue eyes and habit of referring to himself as “wagahai” being reminiscent of Morgana:

A number of new locations can be seen, including Kichijoji, where Caroline and Justine can be seen experiencing life outside the prison:

An aquarium has been added and appears to be a date location for Joker and Kasumi:

Further information is likely to be given on the second day of the concert.
