An unopened first edition Pokemon booster box has sold for $56,000 at an auction in the United States.
A rare first-edition booster box from the Pokemon trading card game has been sold for $56,000 by Maryland-based auctioneers Huggins & Scott. The 1999 booster set had lain unopened with its shrink wrap intact for nearly 20 years, suffering only minor cosmetic damage to one corner of the box. The identity of both the buyer and the original owner are unknown.
This is far from the first time that Pokemon trading card game memorabilia has sold for a five-figure sum. In 2017, a high-quality first-edition Charizard card sold for $55,650 on eBay, and a Japanese Pokemon Illustrator trainer card, drawn by Atsuko Nishida and given as a prize for an illustration contest, sold for $54,970 in 2016.

People who don’t know how use money (-.-)
Hey, it’s a good investment. Give or take ten more years, and that value could very well TRIPLE.
You know this was probably someone who previously worked in a game store and stole this box.
Why? For not-opening it for another 20 years? They can sell crap in a box with “untouched” shrink wrap (easily made in every packing company), so noone will know what in it.
Damn I remember those boxes. Bought a couple myself in the day.
You xould have had sex through the right channels with like 50 kids at that price. At least in the mid atlantic USA.
