Yoko Taro has once again trolled his fanbase with a sneak preview at an upcoming skin for SinoAlice character Dorothy, with the developer claiming that the skin came about due to the concept of “gacha games needing to show skin in order to be profitable”.

The guy obviously likes sexy women but he also likes variety in designs, that character is really modest dressing and he doesn’t want to change that even if they tell him that doesn’t sell, cool of him, if he wants to make a sexy character he will if he wants to make a modest character he will. What matters is that he is able to create his artistic view

I like Yoko Taro quite a lot, however this is extremely hypocritical after Automata.
That aside I would not be surprised if this character sells poorly, mobile games are all about showing skin.
To be fair, 2B does not show much skin by default either. None of the cutscenes in the game focus on her skin and her default appearance is modest enough. You only get to see her fleshy bits if you purposedly attempt to, by rorating the camera or using the self-destruct skill. So, I would believe Taro if he said he prefers more modest approaches to female character design despite Nier:Automata.
