Popular ink-based shooter Splatoon has enraged some of its fans over its upcoming “Splatfest”, which has had its theme heinously altered from food products to the characters of western cartoon “Spongebob Squarepants” – yet another example of Nintendo babying its audience.
The competition originally pitted “Tuna Mayonnaise Onigiri” vs “Red Salmon Onigiri”, but has since been changed to “Spongebob” vs “Patrick” for “easier consumption” by the west’s E-rating demographic:
Some have regarded the blatant westernization as an inevitability considering the previous Splatfest was also forcibly changed…
The Splatfest will take place April 23rd and April 24th.
Ummmmm, I have lived in the United States for 35 years… And Ive NEVER heard of either Tuna Mayonnaise Onigiri or Red Salmon Onigiri. They dont exist here outside of fancy Japanese restaurants.
team retard vs team retard?
we all lose
The Japanese version uses food that everyone probably knows about. That makes a fuckload more sense.
Nintendo USA: “If you’re not a kid, get the f♥♥k off of our console!”
I’m perplexed, though. Why not feature Squidward
instead of Spongebob? Eh? Eh?
“Babying it’s audience” I mean enjoy Splatoon all you want but it is primarily a game made for children. Someone nerf Sankaku, their reach is too far.
