A live action movie has been announced for the widely revered Full Metal Alchemist series, a rather sudden revelation considering the recent lack of activity for the ancient franchise.
The movie will be directed by Fumihiko Sori, whose previous works range from Appleseed to the live action Ping Pong movie; with pop idol sensation Ryosuke Yamada taking on the role of Edward Elric and sure to give critics even more reason to despise the movie should it be anything less than a masterpiece.
Fans are already curious as to whether the movie will be adapting the anime or perhaps deliver new content in its entirety, though as usual there are already quite a few who have low expectations for the film given the generally poor quality of live action anime adaptations.
The movie is slated for a summer 2017 debut.
Edward is a caucasion shorty; where in Japan can they find such an actor unless they do this in Hollywood.
Ikr? It’s like the Attack on Titan cast being Japanese despite being white in the manga. I can’t get enough of the movie’s Mikasa though. So cute. 🙂
I’d swear that Japan adapting all these Blatant and Obviously COMPLETELY *Western* Based Anime with all Japanese casts is their way of Getting Revenge on the US for their WHITE WASHING of Japanese/asian based Anime-Live Action adaptations…. and they’re making sure the f♥♥k-up these Western based series just as bad as Hollywood fucks-up the Japanese/Asia based series… Why can’t we just make and cast our respective cultures naturally?… Examples: Japan Making Death Note, Ruroni Kenshin, or Kimi ni Todoke with Japanese Actors in Japan, GOOD! America making Scott Pilgrim, Marvel & DC comic Movies, and stuff like Pacific Rim with Americans (Mixed ethnic groups, backgrounds, and culture, which does include various asian races…) in America… (or where ever the actual studio sets might be built, now and days often in Canada or UK) Basically YES< I'm Saying Hollywood would be able to make a WAY BETTER FMA movie than Japan :/ How can they see this ending well at all? Hopefully this 'Ryosuke Yamada' dips hit is practicing his English, cause the manga AND anime goes way out of its way to make all in-universe/show text in ENGLISH… but I'd be stupid for me to expect atleast that much detail from this movie huh 🙁
I think it’s all in the settings. FMA and Attack on Titan, primarily set in what seems like fantasy Germany, should have a white cast. DBZ, having people with Asian sounding names, should have a mostly Asian cast. It’s just weird seeing some teenage dirtbag type white guy being called Goku.
well, for some reason, I think it could actually be good. It will probably be a new story, the manga, the first anime, movies, and all games had all exclusive stories, some even with new characters exclusive to them, so there should be no reason for them to not do it on this one.
Yet, for some reason, I think it could actually be a good movie. o_o I wonder why do I think it could be any good though…
Oh, this is gonna hurt…
We’re doomed.
