Holographic diva Hatsune Miku has resumed her conquest of the west by announcing an October 8th performance on “The Late Show with David Letterman” – her most high profile US TV appearance to date.
Earlier this year Miku had even served as the opening to one of Lady Gaga’s concerts, if not to very wide acclaim, and it is more than likely her Letterman performance will resemble the majority of Miku’s other live shows, utilizing “holographic” technology to project the virtual diva on stage to sing for her adoring fans, or in this case bewildered barbarians.
A short video of one of Miku’s earlier concerts for the absent-minded:
For those in the west itching to witness Miku’s virtual self in the not-so-existent flesh may wish to take advantage of her upcoming LA and NY concerts – to be held on the 11th, 12th, 17th and 18th of October.
Just how the majority of the US will react to Hatsune Miku’s virtual glory is perhaps best left unsaid, but greater fame or infamy certainly await.
Man, I really don’t understand why there’s so much hate on ‘l♥♥i culture’ If you don’t like it, that’s fine, but there’s no reason to compare it to real life pedophilia. If a pedophile decides to get anime l♥♥i porn, isn’t that better than them having the real thing? Or if a guy decides to watch l♥♥i anime (To Love RU, kodomo no jikan, yosuga no sora) instead of hang out at a middle school, isn’t that better? Yall need to find some other place to troll lolicons, like 4chan or somehting, I wish sancom would moderate these comments better…
Miku Hatsune’s concert was rather well received in France, despite two or three mockeries in two or three irreverent TV shows, if I remember well.
Can’t see this will end up any better then Cirno News Network’s piece on Touhou, Miku, or anything remotely related. At least Faux and the rest have not picked it up. Personally would have fired the brain-storm and writing team of Miku’s toyota launch. Talking about targeting the wrong target audience and then fcking with your target audience.
The only comedian who has done a funny, un-demeaning, or un-condescending piece related to anime is Conan, and the only comedian who MIGHT do a good piece is CK Louise.
P.S. Letterman, Y U NO FUNNY.
P.S. Then again, maybe no publicity is bad publicity.
7-11’s chibi-Miku troll of Family-mart’s Miku ads are both done respectful enough. Doubt “mainstream” Westerner gets it. Oh boy the punchlines Letterman might come up with, might make me want to punch someone.
She is the future sooner or later all anyone with a smartphone will be laugh at because everyone will have a hologram personal assistant that will be like have a Prsocom like chii without weighing a ton.
Gorillaz did it better
