The latest manga to find itself inexplicably the subject of a live action adaptation is none other than Shonen Jump’s aspiring mangaka title Bakuman.
Takeru Sato and Ryunosuke Kamiki will be playing the protagonists, and the film will be directed by Hitoshi Ohne, whose tiny movie experience (“Moteki” and “Koi no Uzu”) is dwarfed by the vast output of TV drama he has put his name to.
Bakuman mangaka Takeshi Obata’s unexciting response to the news:
“I’m very happy about the movie adaptation. I was able to pen the manga which is to appear in it, so as someone a involved a little in the production as well as the creator of the original I’m looking forward to seeing what it is like.”
The Bakuman movie is due in 2015.
I’d rather see PCP(the crime manga inside bakuman) live action than Bakuman.
None of the fictional manga in Bakuman will ever see the light of day. Especially not the ones that were successful like PCP or the manga that puts them on top. The expectations are too high. If they come out and aren’t that good, they’ll be made worse by the fact there’s expectations attached to them.
wonder if they can properly portray niizuma’s character… probably not and it will be painful to watch…
They could study musicians if they run out of mangakas who work in similar ways. And it’s probably the serious characters like Fukuda that will be harder to blend with the overall specifications of the show. But the manga does have moments where it clearly goes into subroutines, so maybe that’s the way for the movie too.
I thought Takagi was supposed to be the better looking one.
Oh neat, more castrated metrosexuals.
Takeru Satou again? Nice.
I wonder if Momotaros will come out~
