The first formal unboxing of the Wii U has seen immediate complaints about the “Xbox huge” size of the two power adapters the console comes with, although its defenders were soon channelling the spirit of Steve Jobs with the defence that “the brick is not too large, your home is too small!”
The ceremonial unboxing was performed by no less than Nintendo honcho Satoru Iwata:
The sight of the unit unboxed immediately prompted derisive criticism from Japanese gamers sensitive about their tiny homes, with such complaints as “the AC adapter is the main unit,” “they probably dumped it into that brick to make the console look smaller,” and “even the damn controller has a brick!?”
Nintendo fans however were quick to retort with “what kind of rabbit hutch do you live in if that is too big for you?” and “at least the main unit isn’t gigantic!”

Come on guys, the brick… is a feature… ಠ__ಠ
Make this s♥♥t wireless or smaller.
No excuse to make big-ass AC dumpster bricks. Even my PSP connector is smaller.
Um, it’s 1/4th the size of the Xbox 360 power adapter. It’s not only cheaper for the manufacturer, but the consumer to have an external power supply.
If it needs to be replaced, it can be done cheaply and easily. If it was inside the system, it would have to be sent in or replaced entirely.
I’m more concerned he had to wear gloves to handle it…..
maybe it should come with a gieger counter…
😮
