Hardcore puzzle game Catherine may be selling like hot cakes in Japan, but the marketing geniuses at Atlus have still declared the title to be a “Japan-only game,” saying they have “no plans” for a US release.
Atlus USA is fairly emphatic about there being no chance for an international release:
“Catherine is a Japan-only game and there are no plans for a NA release at this time. Sorry about that!”
Just why Atlus bothered developing an Xbox 360 version at all, if not for a US release, is now something of a mystery – in Japan, the PS3 version outsold the 360 version almost 10 to 1, and most buyers would probably have bought it on the PS3 if no port was forthcoming.
Disappointed international fans may be correct in placing this alongside the kind of marketing genius which led to Atlus losing so much money its owners dissolved it…
Well, it is said then No.1 best selling game in Japane in February was Sengoku Musou 3 Z while Cathrine was only No.7. Still no word on the real leader…
Whatever! I didn’t want to buy their stupid game anyway >=(…=(…T_T
Atlus might have said no but for whatever reason Gamestop added Catherine to their reserve list today. Apparently someone didn’t get the memo…
Who cares, it’s just a crappy puzzle game, we’ve got a million of those.
Atlus stop being to tsundere!
