The 1:1 monster RX-78-2 Gundam formerly menacing Tokyo has been re-erected in Shizuoka with upgraded armament. Below the animatronic statue can be seen in detail, as ever striking a particularly impressive figure against the night sky.
Its move to Shizuoka sees it occupy a central spot just to the north of Shizuoka Station, with the installation set to last from now until the conclusion of the Shizuoka Hobby Fair at the end of March, 2011, leaving plenty of time for pilgrimages.
The upgraded beam sabre glows at night and shimmers in the sun during the day, making for an impressive sight – otherwise the display is substantially the same.
I ask for a Zaku!
Like I said before, I can’t wait till I win my Canadian lottery, I’m gonna move to Japan and construct a 1:1 EVA Unit right beside this weakass midget mecha.
I thought the robot at the Ghibli museum was menacing but this just takes the biscuit.
My fave pic is #11 because at first I thought he was pulling a toothy grin 🙂
Ten English pounds says that thing’s battle ready.
I’d be smiling toothily if I had a sword the length of a small bus.
It just won’t exist ever. A Human shaped weapon makes no sense : it makes a HUUUUGER target than a tank, can’t be as armored as a tank, have too many structural weaks points (i.e. : joints), don’t have the mobility of an airplane, etc etc.
But it is scary as s♥♥t.
hahaha.. You all Watch Too much Mech Anime..
that technology wont be available even in 2300
Your great great grandson will maybe!!?
5-10 year beam saber lol..
