The titles and productions credits for the second K-ON!! season’s OP and EDs have been announced, happily revealing that the same teams that produced the original season’s massively successful singles will be reunited for the new songs.
The recent announcement comes by way of TBS’s website, via the same update page that gave us news of K-ON!!’s huge television broadcast lineup:
The OP is: “GO! GO! Maniac” by the Afterschool Tea Time band (i.e., the seiyuu for all 5 Keion-bu girls), with lyrics by 大森祥子 / Sachiko Oomori and arrangements by Tom-H@ck.
The ED is again by Afterschool Tea Time with lyrics by Sachiko Oomori (who incidentally happens to be the lyricist behind practically every single K-ON! song thus produced), composition by 前澤寛之 / Hiroyuki Maezawa and arrangements by 小森茂生 / Shigeo Komori.
The site specifically mentions Yui (Aki Toyosaki) and Mio (Youko Hikasa) as the lead singers for the OP and ED respectively, mirroring the first season’s Cagayake! Girls and Don’t Say ‘Lazy.’
The rest of the production staff is an exact duplicate of the earlier songs, so the new songs might well attain the same chart-topping status as their predecessors.
I’m just waiting for After-school Teatime to go National and deal with being huge rock stars, including dealing with drugs and groupies. And then we’ll get a 20-year later VH1 special about them.
The charm about K On, is that the girls are plucky and cute, without sexual overtones that some pervs have applied to the characters.
I can't think of them as sexual objects, this is one anime I consider to be hallowed just because the lives and personalities are so precious.
I hope the cinematography of the next series will be up to the standard of the original, some of the scenes were very well designed and animated, without being excessively technical.
I hope it will cover at least their concert in the big arena as well as their entry into university. I can't immagine Yui as a NEET, but I can imagine Yui, Ritsu, & Mio mooching off of Mugi in the Student Dorms.
Then there is the possibility of Sawako-san, moonlighting as their manager to consider as well.
For the otakus out there, consider that the main characters are going to be university students, you gotta remember that they are going to be a little more grown up and (more filled out) than former high school girls.
*According to the manga, they are in their last year of high school.
I'm anxious about where it will pick up and then leave off.
But at least there will be some closure that we were left hanging when the first run ended.
cheers guys and gurlies!!
does any1 know when and where we will be able to listen to the OP & ED songs or do we have to wait till till the first episode of the anime S2 to come?
Great news. Can’t wait to see it.
