A comparison of the post-price cut Japanese sales figures for the major consoles reveals that PS3 sales have rocketed 707% compared to the same period a year earlier, whilst Xbox 360 sales have actually decreased 70%, in spite of price cuts.
The figures, based on Enterbrain data:
PS3: 707%
PSP: 126%
Wii: 29%
360: -70%
All these consoles have had their prices slashed recently, with effects ranging from extreme in the case of the PS3, to completely ineffectual in the case of the Xbox 360, which now appears to be in an irrecoverable position in Japan.
Of course, nobody expects this boost for the PS3 to be permanent, although the release of Final Fantasy XIII is just around the corner…
f♥♥k all systems. PC ftw. I dont care what anyone says. I can play any Game system game on my computer and use a Sony or MS or old style controller. Why would I invest in systems that can’t be upgraded when I can play them all on my computer that can be slowly upgraded to face new times. pointless s♥♥t. “ooh a system is on the tv” screw that. so is my computer. HDMI supporting 1080p I can play a 360 game and watch a blu Ray movie while downloading porn and listening to music on the same screen. Fucking do that System gamers.
well, you have a point, but not a lotta ppl are very computer-literate, so they have issues setting s♥♥t up like that. (fucking idiots)
the only advantage to game systems, is for those who have laptops, like myself.
Everyone already has a 360. So of course the sails will be lowered and the boat will sink. The only people still buying a 360 are the poor guys, mexicans, and those who gave up and finding good shooters for their PS3
What about the DS?
xbox fails enough said. now die like the dreamcast all we need is playstation honestly…
Dreamcast was good though.
+1 honestly, 360 is down a steep slope never to return… and to all the 360 fan boys pj natal = false hope.
707% eh? call me back when they actually catch up to the entire console lifetime sales that the 360 has had, until then this is pretty irrelevant, save for the fact I might actually be able to afford a next gen console now. For the record I don’t have a bias either, seeing as I don’t own any : p I’m just going for whatever will give me the most bang for my buck. Logic dictates its the 360 still, if not a Wii (which gets more mileage but is still limited by its kid friendly image and overall library, then again that’s what we love about the Wii isn’t it?).
I think sales are BS
if you went by that Transformers 2 would have been a GOOD movie… which it is not
either way though… it’s the slim dammit, people want it, they’ll buy it
beats the high risk of RRoD, and that seems like a better investment in the long run
True, but from what my gf tells me they’re repairing them for free now because of the rate at which it occurs, not exactly a good thing that they haven’t had the common sense to fix it, but still its better than the service you’ll get for a Broken Nintendo DSlite. ($70 to fix a broken hinge? Whats the replacement made out of Volvonium?) Honestly, I’ve always been a nintendo fan so I might go with that, but if my gf really wants to play together on x-box live I can’t find a reason to say no : p Aside from the subscription charge =.= But hey, a small price to pay for a common interest amirite?
