Late post it late. Necro-post for epic image.
I loved what they did to Lucky Star 😀
Lucky Star sucks
I enjoyed both Lucky Star and SZS.
Get a brain Morans.
I’m not really into either, they both seem sort of pointless. allthough I can atleast sit through SZS without raging, and certain episodes are pretty funny, but more than half of them just feel really boring and pointless.
all in all I think SZS isn’t really a terrible anime, it just could have used some “real” plot instead of just a bunch of gags linked together.
I understand what you’re saying, but I also think that you’re looking at the wrong direction if you’re looking for a plot in any slice of life-like anime.
SZS would be pointless, like you said, if it was actually supposed to have a plot. But more often than not, slice of life is about just a everyday life depicted, usually in a satirical fashion; it’s more focused on character interaction and atmosphere.
Such is the way of satire. Personally I think it’s a brainier kind of entertainment than most, especially when you chew on some of the themes it present. This is probably why I love it so much.
I like both! Do I get a prize?

Well you know what they say: “十人十色/Different strokes for different folks”. Personally I feel Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei is a much more substancial anime than Lucky Star as it attempts to delve into the deeper aspects of modern society rather throw a bunch of pop culture references on top of mediocre humor/character interaction.
