The quality of Chinese artisanship continues to astound. The above lid is carefully integrated into the curb, perhaps for reasons of feng shui or aesthetics, whilst the below manhole cover has a durable internal bamboo frame, ecologically sound as well as economical.
Impressive quality as ever, as expected of the workshop of the world.
Via Heaven.
They should just make one with woods
Man I rode my bike and crashed into one of those things once.
Some poor people in China steals the lid of the manholes because they can exchange money from the metal of the lid.
Making them out of concrete is maybe one of the new measures to stop people stealing the lids I suppose.
Apparently, the other counter measure is to build a concrete curb holding them in place.
It seems affective. At least until there’s a huge sewer backup and they need access.
.. Who am I kidding.. Do they even use sewers?
My friend was telling me that, when he went to china ( and he had pictures, oh god) there was an outhouse that was comprised of a floor, and two concrete blocks. You stand on the blocks, pull down your pants, and pray. The room was full of.. Do I have to say it?
The chinese likes to punch their way through things…want to do sewer maintenance? Use your own damn fist…
Arn’t manholes made so public workers can access the sewers? Whats the point of the cement… or whats the point of the manhole.
