Palworld Developers Get Death Threats Amidst Pokemon Mod Release

Palworld continues to be the talk of the town for various reasons, with Japan also getting into the full swing of discussion on the game’s creatures’ superficial similarities to Pokemon and death threats being made towards the developers.

It was around evening Japan time when the lead director of Palworld, Takuro Mizobe, revealed that the team had gotten death threats. Speaking on Twitter, he wrote:

Currently, our company’s artist(s) have become the target of defamation, and we have been seeing Tweets that are quite similar to death threats. We’ve received a lot of opinions about Palworld, but all supervision over development for the game was done by several people including me, and the responsibility for development lies with me. We hope people stop trying to defame the artists who worked on Palworld.

Mizobe’s words came at a time when the game saw one of its first large-scale mods – turning all the humans and Pals into actual Pokemon counterparts. The release of such a mod was likely inevitable, but it still shocked both Palworld supporters and detractors:
