Japanese Final Fantasy XIV players will literally get to taste defeat with new collaborative Koikeya-brand potato (or ‘Popoto’) chips that taste like ‘licking the floor,’ slang for dying or wiping in raids in the MMORPG.
The potato chips (‘popoto chips’ to match the setting) are part of Square Enix’s celebration of the game’s 10th anniversary since its re-release as FFXIV A Realm Reborn. The chips are set to be available to order even online and come in three versions of packaging, showing off lore or bosses appearing in the game.
The full name of the original flavor is ‘Spicy! Floor-licking Vegetable Soup Flavor’, so it’s unlikely that players eating the chips will find themselves whisked away to the magical land of Eorzea on a flavor journey. However, this has led some players to turn the idea on its head, wondering if the floor of Eorzea tastes like potato chips instead.
I don’t know what’s worse; the fact that they make this s♥♥t or the fact that there are people that buys this s♥♥t.
