Hololive Takes Touhou-like Fan Game Approach With ‘Holo Indie’ Strategy

Hololive Takes Touhou-like Fan Game Approach With 'Holo Indie' Strategy

In a rather Touhou-esque move, Vtuber group Hololive’s parent company Cover Corp. announced a new initiative that allows fan game creators to publish and monetize their games by first running them by the Hololive committee and getting them approved.

Titled ‘holo Indie’, any fan games featuring Hololive characters will be able to be submitted for approval before being published under the label. Previously, any fan games could only be offered for free, lest they risked running afoul of the Derivative Work Guidelines previously released by Cover. The strategy essentially lets game creators get monetized for their fan work.

The first test case for the new program is Holo Parade, a tower defense game that’s planned for release on Steam.
