Old people continue to wreak havoc on the roads in Japan, with the latest being a 97-year-old who crashed into a building and then claimed to the police that he “wasn’t driving a car.”
On November 8 at around 2:00 p.m., there was an emergency call about a car crashing into another car in Shimotsubayashi Minamidaihannya, Nishikyo Ward, Kyoto.
According to the police report, there was an accident in which a car collided with a pickup truck, and when the police officer arrived at the scene and told the driver of the car to pull over to the side, he then accelerated and crashed into a building.
“I heard a voice saying, ‘Stop!’, then I heard a huge thud and then a bang that I’ve never heard before,” said a local. “When I went to check, I saw that a car had crashed. The driver was an elderly man, and he looked surprised.”
When speaking to the police, the old man was incoherent, saying, “I wasn’t driving a car.”
Here’s a news report on the incident:
He wasn’t driving a car. He was a zero pilot aiming for an american carrier
A shame he was born in Japan instead of the US, as he would seem to be a good fit for US President.
He shouldn’t be on the road at this age. His family should’ve told him that.
Even my grandma stopped driving when she reached 88, and her cognitive abilities were terrible in her 90s. A 97 year old man driving is definitely dangerous. Guy went through World War II, poor elderly should be given a helper.
He ain’t driving cuz he’s on an automatic driving Tesla, but that’s a vision from many years from now. I suspect he’s man from the future that got trapped in current time & can’t go back… Now in his very old age, he’s probably get confused why stupid old car in our time can’t drive itself. LOL
