Twitter users have found yet another English-translated game that is less than faithful to the original Japanese version, as Utawarerumono: Prelude to the Fallen removes the mentioning of the word “woman” in every instance where it could be deemed “offensive”, with such censorship becoming more and more common.
Utawarerumono: Prelude to the Fallen launched on Steam back in 2021, and the usual Twitter users curious about how accurate the English translations are have found that the game sadly fails in some aspects.
One instance had the English translation removing the word “inferior” from “rettou shuzoku” (劣等種族), or “inferior tribe”:
Another translation changed the phrase onna toshite no shiawase (女としての幸せ), or “happiness as a woman” to remove the word “woman”:
Yet another example that turned “women” into “bystanders”, likely due to the negative implication towards her being a woman:
Other more strange translation changes were also made, likely due to the potential suggestiveness:
Such censorship for the sake of political correctness removes personality from characters (even if they are negative personality traits) and lessens potential themes in the process, taking away from the player’s authentic experience.
Why is it so hard to do a translation instead of a localization?
Because it’s about pushing The Message™ in the west.
Also, because it’s NISA.
PUBLISHER: DMM GAMES, Shiravune
It’s not NISA, as much as I’d love to blame them for this.
The English site literally says NIS America dude, I don’t know what to tell you. What would DMM have to do with the English version?
These massive cucks would rather slobber on tranny cock than actually learn something.
Bro.. Stop say trannier just say fags with boobs is more better
Man with false breast
Says the guy who doesn’t understand a lick of japanese
I love how the last one tries to remove implications while adding another implication by saying “she forces me to embrace her”. The original line is fine on by some translator clown ironically made worse implications by changing it.
The ps4 remake was poorly translated I don’t see why this is a surprise about the Steam port.
Never hire feminists.
Just translate do not add your own words to a game
sadly for us, companis care only about money….. not fans who actually play 100% of the game. but fucking mainstream attention whores who’ll buy the game, won’t bother playing more than half of the game, (they play at all just look at trophy/achient rations….) but wll pay, no refund, so compashits only care about the numbers. why wold they care about some peope upset whe thir main income ces from shitheads who don’t even finish the story.
i hope one day they invent a proper translator system so we don’t need transhitters (oh and for anyone: just learn it! well, my disability is in the way, and im not the only one…so yeah, fucck it aall…… )
