A recent episode of Date A Live‘s fourth season that was aired in China was found to be of much lower quality in comparison to the Japanese version, an incident that previously occurred for the third episode and making many curious why China is getting a lower quality release.
It was suggested that the episode was not entirely handled by studio Geek Toys but a new one named Jumondou Seoul, which is supported by the fact that the polished Japanese version had more staff in the credits than the lower quality one, and indicating that Geek Toys later improved it.
China was thought to have received an unfinished version of the episode and had no choice other than to air it – sample screenshots of the third episode’s unfinished version that was aired in China, versus the Japanese version:
The same thing has seemingly happened again for a more recent episode; the screenshots labeled “real” are from the Japanese airing, while the ones labeled “fake” are from the China edition aired on Bilibili (the Chinese equivalent of YouTube):
The Chinese have asked for it. They want to censor things, so the animation studios are forced to send the animation to them first to show the anime in China, and the end result is this. The Japanese got the good part.
Most likely explanation? Production studio has to ship out an early unpolished version of the episodes in order to get them past Chinese censors in time for airing.
Exactly.
Welcome to China.
It still has to be approved by the Party’s censors.
These Koreans are always drawing substandard work for the Japanese.
CHINESE QUALITY PRODUCT
Is it going to explode?
I hate the people that want things changed or censored or change things so “they” can protect their little brats.
If anyone doesn’t believe me take a look at Final Fantasy 6 for the SNES on the Japanese version. Kefka says the “F” word more than my older brother did in his whole life but the caring people here in Nintendo of America and the stupid parents of kids decided that it would hurt their minds.
STOP CENSORING things.
