Love Hina Mangaka Entering Upper House Election to Protect Freedom of Expression

Ken Akamatsu, mangaka of Love Hina and a prominent voice in defending freedom of expression in manga, is allegedly intending to take part in Japan’s Upper House Election (House of Councillors), which he is doing in a move to protect the aforementioned freedom of expression from the clutches of Western companies hellbent on being politically correct.

The mangaka is likely best known for Love Hina, Negima, and UQ Holder, but Ken Akamatsu has also been highly vocal when it comes to preserving a mangaka’s right to freedom of expression, as more and more Western companies have been forcibly inserting political correctness, propaganda, and wokeness into creations, such as comics and English-dubbed anime.

Akamatsu has concerns that Western companies might soon begin dictating what is allowed in Japanese content, and is seemingly eager to prevent this happening.

The election’s chairman, Toshiaki Endou, got in contact with Akamatsu at the Liberal Democratic Party (which is right wing in Japan) headquarters on December 9th and confirmed that Akamatsu intends to run, and Akamatsu is aiming to increase the vote count by providing aid to candidates that younger individuals are familiar with.

Akamatsu also addressed the news on his Twitter account, confirming his decision to run for the House of Councillors next summer to protect freedom of expression, and also stated that the party is still in the selection process. Akamatsu stressed he will convey his intentions once an official announcement is made.
