Diligent individuals trying to keep themselves informed on the Western game developers actively censoring Japanese releases have realized that both the trailers and artwork for Disgaea 6: Defiance of Destiny have been censored, covering up thighs and breasts and desperately trying to make the Disgaea series seem child-friendly.
Illustrations placed on the official website were realized to be more covered up for the Western version, concealing exposed thighs and forcing one girl to wear a different version of her outfit that hides her cleavage (top is Japanese, bottom is from the Western site):
While perhaps not intentional, critics discovered that the game’s first trailer used text to cover up cleavage for the Western version:
The second trailer also cropped one girl’s body at one point, causing her breasts to not be visible, while another girl’s thighs were moved out of sight:
Lovers of stylized JRPGs and Japanese titles are no doubt furious at this constant demonization of traditional female sex appeal, as the Western gaming industry has done nothing but censor – specifically – Japanese titles that are sexy.
Disgaea 6 comes to the PS4 and Nintendo Switch on January 28th while the strategy game will only release on the Switch in the West sometime in summer 2021.
Longtime fans of the franchise are no doubt hoping no actual censorship is present in the game itself, especially not on the Nintendo Switch version.
This cannot be done in the West. Now films like “Cuties” on netflix with real actresses can show. Does anyone understand the logic of the West?
I do not even understand about Cuties. I watched some and it was not a twerking movie. It seems like that was a lie.
I know the American logic, it is to attack the first thing you see in the morning until you are very tired, and not have remaining HP to think if you are wasting your life.
But that’s where the problem lies. Disgaea is much less harmful and has been censored. Nobody can against the lobby of the film industry, especially Hollywood. They managed to censor Disgaea because NIS is a small studio.
How can minors be actors anyway? Wouldn’t that be child labor and therefore illegal or am I missing something here?

They’re actively trying to hijack and erase Japanese stuff. Just look at all the ridiculous localization changes, even being forced onto Japanese devs (I personally know Japanese devs).
Chinese companies are slowly taking over Japanese art style (Genshin, Azur Rain, etc), while digital services like Steam and Patreon actively censor or outright remove Japanese art/games.
Then you have scum Sony buying localization companies and distribution services with a long record of replacing the original dialogue with personal political agenda.

Chinese games are censored to begin with, so that won’t save anything, unless the Chinese get rid of their communist tyrants. I wouldn’t hold my breath for that, though.

What’s the point of censoring that anyway? Thigh and cleavage? That’s ridiculous.
