Eizouken Manga Artist Attacked by Westerners for Following Loli Pixiv Accounts

The mangaka for Eizouken ni wa Te o Dasu na! (which had an anime earlier in the year) was recently vilified on Twitter for daring to follow artists on Pixiv who create loli-based erotica, with the usual suspects naturally being of the twisted notion that fictional content causes real physical harm.

The artists that Sumito Oowara (the mangaka in question) was following were said to have created erotic 2D illustrations and photorealistic 3D CG depicting under-age characters, with one person claiming that one of the artists also supposedly drew 2D versions of real-life children:

The amount of vitriol and disgust permeating throughout the social media platform was apparently enough to convince Sumito Oowara to address the situation:

I followed 3D modelers with no intent to hide the fact because I believed it could be good for reference material and I was certified as a pedophile from abroad. That’s all the information. It makes me feel uneasy. The kind of impression this gives me is “is that so?”, I seriously don’t understand. It seems photorealistic work and 2D are treated differently. There are many things like this, but I usually don’t talk about them. Things like this usually go the route of “How do you explain this? I have no excuse.” but “I don’t know” is the only thing I can say. I don’t care though. Honestly, “if you follow this certain ero mangaka then you’re like them too!” is the kind of impression I get from this. The conversation has ended, I’m going back to Tsushima.

It has been mentioned that Oowara no longer follows these artists on Pixiv.

The mangaka likely brought about their own end however when they previously shared how they went to a diverse school, attracting to their work the types of individuals who would gladly cancel a person over fictional content:

Only a portion of the bitter comments expressing hatred for Sumito Oowara:
