More rumors regarding Resident Evil 8 have emerged by way of an allegedly “reliable” insider, who has asserted that the upcoming entry is the “darkest and most gruesome yet” in the franchise, a statement that many will likely consider as vastly overblown.
The insider initially made this statement on Twitter while also declaring that the game will also have the most disturbing enemy designs in the series:
The insider then for some reason went to the fetid trench that is ResetEra to expose that Resident Evil 8 will contain new types of zombies, beastmen, a staff-wielding “juggernaut” and a witch-like enemy with an obscured face that will stalk players.
Gameplay-wise, it is said that the gunplay is being improved upon from Resident Evil 7 and that Chris Redfield (who is slated to return in the form of flashbacks) will be a cross between his appearance in 7 and his more burly look in 5 and 6.
Perhaps most fascinating is that Chris is rumored to do something that is “actually horrible and f–ked up with full intent to do it”.
None of these facts have been officially confirmed however as not even the game itself has been announced yet.

I thought the rumors that the game was previously Resident Evil Revelations 3 until it tested well with inside audiences and got upscaled to a full blown Resi title and took the 8 number.
They also said there was also a Resident Evil 8 in development as well as Revelations 3 at the time. So with Revelations 3 now RE8, RE8 will probably be 9 a few years later lol.
