Famitsu has listed the most sold games for the first half of 2019, the Nintendo Switch reigning supreme (serving as the most frequently appearing platform) on the ranking alongside the 3rd entry in a collaborative series that possesses an oft mocked fanbase.
1. Kingdom Hearts III – PS4 (838,927 sold)
2. Super Smash Brothers Ultimate – Switch (779,845 sold)
3. New Super Mario Brothers U Deluxe – Switch (643,426 sold)
4. Resident Evil 2 Remake – PS4 (393,688 sold)
5. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – Switch (318,492 sold)
6. Pokemon Let’s Go! Pikachu and Eevee – Switch (312,278 sold)
7. Minecraft – Switch (305,640 sold)
8. Super Mario Party – Switch (284,170 sold)
9. Sekiro – PS4 (260,223 sold)
10. Splatoon 2 – Switch (224,791 sold)
These numbers are very wrong

Videogames as pure entertainment are a dying medium, now most game companies are heavily politicized, censored, and others are switching to pandering to the casino fiend gachacucks
Japanese do not buy western games and while most of the Switch games do have mass appeal, they all target the very same casual crowd and one characteristic of the casual crowd is not having time or the need for more than one game in several months.
Smash Bros came out on Switch in Japan December 7, 2018 so the initial sales, inc pre orders aren’t included in these numbers above.
Japan is pretty small
