It has been announced by Sega that “A Certain Magical Virtual-On” (To aru Majutsu no Den’nou Senki) will have its digital and physical sales temporarily halted for “various reasons” – bound to have fans desperate to know the exact explanation.
Elaboration as to why the game will suddenly no longer be sold has not been divulged, but Sega apologized to customers and those who may have been thinking of buying the title.
A Certain Magical Virtual-On became available for PS4 and Vita in February of last year, the title was a collaboration between Sega and Dengeki Bunko featuring characters from the To Aru Majutsu no Index series.
Some commenters wondered if the title perhaps suspended sales due to a character being voiced by Pierre Taki (who was recently arrested for possessing drugs), seeing as other games that had involvement with him have done the same since his arrest.
Such a strange custom for all the products to disappear because of one person exiting the industry (probably) dishonourably. Why would the companies accept losses like that? If the customers decide not to buy, it’s one thing, but to not even try to sell is another thing. If they must, since it’s software, they could just release a patch that replaces the voices, as soon as they get them recorded.
Companies don’t want the hassle of dealing with SJWs, so they instantly bend over and take the loss of profit.
But there’s nobody protesting against this particular game.
Oh f♥♥k off, this has nothing to do with “muh sjws!”
It’s very stupid from a business stand point as only old fossils who are one step from the grave care that much about drug use and I doubt even most of them really care.
In Japan, Honor > Profit.
More like public face > profit.
Fukushima is a perfect example of that. To make a hundred million yens more profit they neglected properly maintaining and upgrading the power plant to follow the best knowledge and advice. After all, as long as nobody knew the reality (public face), everything was just fine. That’s not honourable. And the mistake ended up costing thousands of billions of yens.
Fukushima was completely preventable if they didn’t shave down the location to save on pumping costs for cooling the disaster and listened to the GE engineers to move the generators to high ground the disaster may not have even happened.
So, Japan = Klingons. West = Ferengi?
Ferengi are obviously arabians. Would do everything for wealth, backwards troglodytes, treat their women like s♥♥t.
No the Ferengi are clearly the Jews.
And ppl think unpersoning in the US is bad. Japan even goes back in time to erase people’s work for something you would only get a mild “lol” in the west.
Sort of like how they removed Vic Mignogna from the credits of the Broly movie despite him not being arrested or anything.
They restored him back into the credits.
It’s a very stupid thing this kind of outdated uptighness is partly why they have fallen behind the west in a lot of things such as robotics and space flight.
maybe in the US held itself to a standard they would get a better leader than the one they elected but sadly no
It’s the democrats who want to legalize drugs though.
Even among the republicans there is a general consensus the war on drugs has been at best counterproductive.
It’s only the old fossils and puritans with their panties in a knot who still support the status qua.
@Anon 4:06.
Wow you’re a moron.
The US is still a civilized country with due process vs some third world s♥♥t hole.
What’s counterproductive is focussing efforts on the consumers. All you really need is killsquads to end gangs.
I had heard rumors that this game had a couple of bugs in it that could kill the game part-way through. So I though maybe SEGA wised up and removed the game for sale temporarily to fix these bugs. If it just to remove the Taki’s voiced lines and name from the credits then they really are out of touch.
It’s it’s to fix a bug that could brick someone’s PS4 it would make a lot of sense to pull it.
But if it’s just to remove the Taki lines it’s very stupid move as I don’t think anyone who actually buys the game even cares that he did drugs.
The few who may get their panties in a knot over it are almost certainly a tiny minority.
smh that guy did the voice for a LOT of characters
good thing i already have it although i havent played it yet
