Funimation has announced Sony’s arrangement to acquire a substantial majority stake (95%) in Funimation for $143 million has gone through, a turn of events most seem to think could hardly make matters any worse than they already are – short of actual Sony-funded original titles for the US market with explicitly pro-degeneracy agendas ala Netflix.
Funimation CEO Gen Fukunaga will still serve as the CEO and will retain a minority stake in the company; his strictly PR boilerplate thoughts on the play:
“With Funimation’s long-established leadership position in anime and Sony’s direct access to the creative pipeline in Japan, it will be a great partnership to take Funimation to the next level.”
The announcement of the deal’s conclusion came by way of Twitter:
Funimation has (unfortunately) ensured that Sony will not get involved in their dubbing:
Will Sony be deciding how things are dubbed?
Sony values our years of expertise dubbing anime and understands that for over two decades, Funimation has been making anime accessible to a wide audience by delivering high quality dubs working with our talented voice actors and directors.
Funimation’s full FAQ on the event is available online now.
Opinions online about this rather major event:
“Will this put the live-action adaptation rights for these franchises in Sony’s hands now?”
“Does this mean we get another crappy live action DBZ interpretation?!”
“People acting like it’s the end of the world when nothing will literally change unless you’re some scrub who actually watches dubbed anime lol.”
“Uh oh, I can smell a monoploy coming our way. That is never good news.”
“Sony has money for acquisitions? I’m surprised.”
“They better not screw over Crunchyroll.”
“This is a bad idea. Sony has failed at everything they’ve done besides Playstation. If they some how ruin Funimation I will never forgive them.”
“Well it’s a low bar. Funimation is pretty terrible at localization.”
“ANYONE is better than Funi. Well, I take it back. 4Kids isn’t.”
“Isn’t Sony a Japanese company? So the Japanese own funimation now huh…”
“I’d like to think Sony won’t mess with an already profitable business, but we’ll see.”
“So this means I should make it a priority to watch all the recently added Funi shows on CR before they’re taken off? Got it.”
“I wonder if this will stop them from putting politics into dubs or make them do it more, I guess only time will tell.”
I like how we’re pretending that all anime is being censored by SJW when there’s so much s♥♥t anime that’s filled with empowered women who literally abuse male characters all the time even when they did nothing wrong and it’s totally cool because it’s a woman. Examples: Nisekoi, Your lie in April, Love Hina, To-Love-RU, etc.
I know in some cases they are supposed to be a joke but any fucking retard should know not to over use a joke, they constantly have females abusing males throughout each episode.
This. First off, Crunchyroll tosses money at a few production committees here and there. They tossed some shekels at season 50 of fucking Teekyuu and a couple other random shows. The worst damage they can possibly do is fund a few shows that flop in Japan to appease their faggot subscribers. They don’t make nearly enough money to f♥♥k with the industry on a grand scale, nor would they be willing to spend that much in the first place.
Second, I really, really hate the stupid anime trend of abusive girls and women being played for comedy. Especially when the woman is powerful enough to mess up the dude.
I’d like to see an anime where some girl tries the tsundere routine with the main male protagonist for most of the first season, and she confesses right before the big battle. He shoots her down cold because, y’know, she’s slapping him around before they start dating. What would she do after?
In the next season, she starts going to therapy. She improves, gradually, and the male protagonist notices, but he still refuses to start a relationship because he just can’t trust her. He ends up with the nicer second choice, who isn’t horrible to him.
Aniplex of America are the worst anime company in the US. Look at how they’re selling 6 episodes of Occulitic;Nine on Blu Ray for 80 dollars.
I wish fags would stop buying their s♥♥t so they would close down.
>Sony has failed at everything they’ve done besides Playstation.
Failed abortion Millenial trash spotted.
Sony Walkman, the 3 1/2 inch floppy disk (the first prototypes),and Blu-Ray (with Philips) just to name a few of their past successes. Not to mention their Trinitron televisions and monitors were well liked.
It’s a SONY.
Screw the dubs, just give me Saenai Heroine no Sodatekata S3, SAO’s next 2 series, and Granblue already. Sony is doing things right as long as it completes it’s monopoly.
Behold, Sony Feminazion (previously Funimation) doing things right:-
SAO’s next 2 series, the first line of Asuna: “Are you one of those dumb-ass Gamergate creepshows?”
Saenai Heroine no Sodatekata S3, the first line of Megumi Kato: “Are you one of those dumb-ass Gamergate creepshows?”
I have reason to believe that won’t happen because two of those series are harem and sony’s justice warriors will stem on your list.
