A slippery thief known for terrorizing Tokyo and Ishikawa Prefecture with his sweetie stealing has finally been apprehended, once again demonstrating how swiftly Japan’s finest can respond to the most heinous of crimes.
The unemployed 51-year-old (supposedly nicknamed “Sugar” by investigators) has been accused of pilfering and devouring over 250 desserts (ice cream, chocolate and pudding, among other treats) over 40 different incidents as far back as 2013, with his lack of gainful employ likely serving as the motive – along with a taste for all things sweet and sugary.
Surveillance cameras managed to pin down the culprit and will likely be used as evidence for his sinister stealing, though his sloppy work in making away with the goods – leaving a mess of crumbs behind at the scene for police to extract DNA from – may have also proven to be his downfall.
Additionally suspected to have stolen a pair of sandals, the sentence for the relentlessly hungry man has yet to be declared.

Let me guess, someone stole your Sweetroll?
The suspect was reportedly wearing black t-shirts under a white kimono, black boots, was of average height and had silvery-curly hair.
Sounds like to me the police of Isikawa have absolutely nothing to do so maybe the city officials can cut back their funding, maybe even lay off a few and sell off the equipment in forensics lab to communities who have a real crime problem.
Then maybe take the money saved and spend more on programs to help the poor I’m just sayian.
240 small items over four years is practically nothing as far as shrinkage rates go.
And you can’t even be sure the same person did them all or if the people running the store decided accidental waste or employee theft as theft from an outside party.
Some people in Japan may act nice on the outside but inside they’re worse scum than anything you may meet on the streets of NYC or Harlem.
Such as the f—tard who called to police over someone charging her phone.

so I can break into your home and it’s ok as long as you are not home when I do it and I only steal the cheap stuff. is that right?
Stupid shitty Samsung spell check I meant responsible.
Besides if it was the same guy coming and stealing for the past four years why didn’t they just confront him and tell him he’s not welcome there vs waiting so long.
Wow you’re an idiot.
The poster never said it was ok to steal and instead he/she was stating over the given time frame the number of lost items was well within normal losses for a business and the same person probably is not reproducible for them all.
Oh and holy f♥♥k on the link to the story about the waste of carbon atoms who called the police on a girl for charging her phone from a public outlet.
Really the cops should have tased him for wasting their time and in this case I’d support a little police brutality.
I’d like to meet that asshole in person so I can tell him what a piece of work he is and punch him in the face.
They were probably worried he might move onto bigger items to steal. Some thieves do become emboldened if they’re not getting caught by the authorities when they do that stuff.
That’s not really bad and worthy of police resources imho. I mean, yes, he stole and committed a crime but c’mon, it was just candy and a pair of shoes. And his circumstances forced him. I know this isn’t an excuse (and it should not be one) but I’d have just ignore it. There are more important things police should focus on.
Looking at what was stolen it seems like the guy was just homeless.
The DNA test they used probably cost more than the items that were stolen.
Looking at how things are so slow in this town that catching a homeless person is something worthy of news and is such a big excitement the investigators gave the suspect a nickname. I think they can afford to cut back on the funding for their police force and spend more on helping the poor.
Are you sure he was homeless? I understand the sentiment behind your post. But did you look at the website video? The man in question looks cleanly shaven, certainly not someone who has been living rough.
He may be someone who gets a thrill breaking into premises. Like some kind of perverse pleasure.
That’s a really nice stance… and a damn easy one to take when you’re not the one he’s been stealing from. Those desserts didn’t spring from the ground for free — the store owners had to pay for them.
You can ignore someone stealing from you if you like, but if it gets to be commonly known that you don’t care if someone steals from you, don’t be surprised to wake up and find everything you own gone.
Actually the food ultimately did spring from the ground all food does either directly or as feed for animals.
