The first Anime Contents Expo looks to have finally got off to a successful start, with hordes of otaku in attendance and all the top shows well in evidence.
The event’s first public day was well attended by photographers, and the scenes visible certainly reinforce the notion that TAF and ACE have decided to divvy up their coverage into kiddy anime and commercial sales for Ishihara’s minions at TAF, and everything else for ACE – with virtually all the good stuff hogged by ACE:
The Animate booth had a 3 hour wait, with the queue too long to fit even in Makuhari Messe’s cavernous halls:
The event’s food has been the subject of some opprobrium – diners had to queue for 2 hours in order to buy some distinctly lacklustre anime-flavoured food, with the catering having apparently been used as an unsubtle way of bilking otaku desperate to get at various anime trinkets accompanying the sloppy, overpriced chow:
Yayoi’s home cooking unfortunately does not appear likely to go down as one of the event’s high points.
Damn food prices at that convention are cheaper than US food prices and any convention here. like almost half the price.
kyuubey strikes again
