The 8th Nipponbashi Street Festa looks to have been the biggest ever, with 220,000 cramming the streets of Osaka amidst scenes of outstanding cosplay and creepiness.
The 8th “Nipponbashi Street Festa,”, a cosplay street festival held annually on the 20th of March in Osaka’s “Nipponbashi” area (unhelpfully, some Japanese sources have decided to romanise this as “Nippombashi” as well – and neither are to be confused with the identically spelled “Nihonbashi” bridge in Tokyo), saw thousands of otaku flood into “Den-Den Town,” Osaka’s answer to Akihabara.
Media coverage in fact estimated an impressive 220,000 in attendance, with hordes of cosplayers on display amidst creepy otaku and hapless gawkers:
What the… We (friend and I) were in Osaka at this time but we met my penfriend and she suggested to take a trip to Nara what we accepted. Argh~
