Aya Hirano’s latest appearance on a trashy variety show has prompted much comment amongst her remaining “lifeliners.”
The show featured a ranking of the celebrities present in terms of their ability to extravagantly waste money in ways even otaku can only aspire to – Hirano’s reaction to seeing a fellow guest who spends ¥140,000 a week on fine dining:
Her reaction to another creepy celebrity who spent ¥800,000 in one day on gambling:
Naturally, Hirano doesn’t feature at all in this ranking – she is just too poor.
She is fed some tuna:
Her former career as seiyuu is highlighted:
One of her fans spotted her dining alone:
She revealed that she mostly eats alone, prompting this exchange:
Creepy celebrity: “Don’t you have any friends?”
Hirano: “I can count them on my fingers…”
Whether this includes all her older male companions is a matter of some speculation.
anyone youtube link? (or something)
Hey, it’s God, god and the fangirl, the child with a crush on her female partner, the otaku and the shy twin, and Little Green. Don’t recognize the other one though.
I can be her friend.. if she wants:)
This is her agent, she’s ecstatic about your offer.
People forget that even celebrities are human, I really think she shouldn’t care about the people who constantly bash on her though. Considering the only thing that satisfied them is not her, but the thought of her being their own virgin bride or some crazy s♥♥t like that.
I’ll never forget the reaction to a freaken love plus fake character saying she got wet.
Quite true, also one thing that I find interesting is that in the western society there are several celebraties who have done things that could be considered pretty hate-worthy yet there are several people who still admire them. Also the idea of some “fans” shunning someone and badmouthing them over their private live is pretty unreasonable I would say. I mean there ARE only human, its perfectly normal for someone to have been in a relationship or even have secrets they wouldn’t mention. If anything I was surprised when Aya announced her history of male interaction, not in a negative way but impressed she could confess something like that.
This comming from an Otaku I don’t hate Aya for what she has done and think it’s pretty unfair the treatment she has been given because of it.
Though I can’t really complain about being able to count my friend on my fingers since I too can do that, well in terms of TRUE FRIENDS that is.
The Japanese are nuts, there is so much “pressure” and demands on their celebrities. >< … no not her acting voice, her normal speaking voice, it's so "squeaky".
I would probably go nuts if I had to converse with her on a daily basis.
I think American English speaking women has the most squeaky voices in the world. Think of that family mother in That 70s show, or in Marge Simpson, now that`s squeaky! Worst is still Sarah Palin, she is one crazy bitch.
Japanese girls and women`s voices sound very sweet to my ears. My native language is not English.
Aya Hirano speaks quite naturally as i hear it.
I wrote a long reply but the comment system lost it. @#$%
Marge Simpson? I think you meant Lisa, Marge is the mother with the nasally voice.
Anyway, I think Miss Hirano is “restraining” herself a bit more these days – she IS a voice actress.

She sound much more “normal”.
Can’t find the earlier interview /w Matsumoto and Hamada when she was just starting out any more. /sadface
But this will do:

So squeaky and high pitched.
Thanks for your comment. I only wanted to say we hear voices differently depending what our original native languages are and how they are pronounced.
I believe most Americans think Sarah Palin sounds awful?
My native tongue is Finnish, it has a lot of similarity to Japanese, but Japanese women generally speak with much more cute voice. It attracts me! I still see them as intelligent and mature as their ages should tell, of course.
My fav voice just now: Aki Toyosaki!
OK the comment system here doesn’t like certain symbols.
missing:
I not really that big of a fan of hers, but I feel she does good work.
And she is pretty.
Her voice on the other hand …
