Each Christmas, 2ch otaku start a “Supervise female seiyuu to make sure they aren’t spending time with a man” thread, in which they pore over seiyuu blogs for suspect updates, check for possible alibi, and examine the dates of any photographs posted to make sure they are genuine evidence of a Christmas spent alone.
This year’s targets, courtesy of 2ch:

Of the various seiyuu monitored, it appears Ayana Taketatsu (Azusa) and Yoko Hikasa (Mio) are lacking proper EXIF authentication of their whereabouts this Christmas. Aki Toyosaki (Yui) has been spotted manipulating the EXIF data of a photograph to make it appear recent, despite it being identified as older.
The reason for the EXIF data checking is that the EXIF timestamp added to images by digital cameras will give away a photo taken before it was actually posted, in case seiyuu have the gall to employ subterfuge in defence of their privacy.
Naturally, a sufficiently savvy seiyuu (or more likely their agency) could simply manipulate the EXIF data to give an appropriate alibi, so fans also look for additional cross-site corroboration where possible.
As 2ch puts it, this thread is “90% virgin, 100% stalker.”
However, all this stalkerish suspicion is not entirely a product of obsessive otaku delusion.
In 2007, famed bikini model Aya Hirano made a series of Christmas updates to her blog in which she emphasised that she spent Christmas Eve, in Japan largely a romantic evening for couples, at a party which was “nothing but women.”
The updates were made on Christmas Eve, but suspicious (just why is perhaps better not wondered about) otaku examined the EXIF timestamps on the photographs she uploaded – the photos were actually taken on the 21st.
This led to the inevitable suspicion that she had made an update specifically for the purpose of deceiving her creepy fans into thinking she was safely at a chaste female-only party, rather than happily in the bed of some discrete boyfriend as fans subsequently suspected.
It seems believing their “idol” is a perpetually chaste virgin is so important to idol otaku that seiyuu must now manufacture forensically perfect evidence of them being free of insidious male company at every likely romantic occasion, lest 2ch and their delightful fans brand them strumpets and run their names through the muck…
Where are the links to those threads?
creepy stalkers… they arent nuns so why they cant have boyfriends¿
The investigators of 2ch strike again. The government should hire them.
Man, Otakus are fucked up, fucked up retarded. They need to stop being so fucking creepy.
Some people are getting it wrong.
This has nothing to do with females and males and everything to do with the requirements of your occupation.
Some of these voice actors are also idols and in the business of being an idol, you try to sell an image of perfection and purity to a very specific group of people.
If they don’t want to put up with it, they don’t have to be an idol.
It’s just like strippers and pole-dancers. Part of their occupation is to sell their image of sexiness and sometimes skankiness. If they don’t want to do those things, they should find another job.
