A display of two flayed corpses having sex is one of the latest works to be exhibited by famed plastination pioneer and showman Dr. Gunther von Hagens, all in the name of improving the public’s anatomical awareness.
The “plastination” process itself preserves cadavers by infusing them with plastic, and is used for the creation of anatomical models, which have frequently been shown to the guro loving public.
His exhibits and techniques have been stoking much controversy for over a decade now (with this latest display being no exception, having been roundly condemned by German politicians as “revolting”), but always accompanied by huge public interest and millions of visitors.
The next exhibition is set to focus entirely on sex, with organisers pondering whether they can get away with showing acts of homosexual sex in plastinated form…
This must’ve been incredibly popular in Japan!
This is just wrong.
i think i’m gonna puke… again.
What is it you are so afraid of? The fact that normal people have sex? The fact that some humans have penises, while the others have vaginas? Or is it that you’re upset that people enjoy sharing their bodies with one another – and Von Hagens is illustrating that?
I know the American man who has decided to donate his genitals – large penis, testicles, scrotum and even some pubic scalp – to be plastinated and put on display in the Iceland penis museum. He’s having it all done while he’s still living. And it doesn’t bother him that millions of people will be examining his privates. He says he likes the idea that his penis (named Elmo) has already become famous for that.
“It doesn’t matter how you look on the outside, it’s what’s inside that matters.”
