Sony’s much heralded PS3 Slim seems an immediate hit, but any objective comparison seems to reveal its slimness is rather overstated, with shrewd marketing and the substantial price cut the real cause of attention.
The comparison above illustrates the sizes of the major recent consoles in some detail…
Of these units, perhaps only the original Xbox stands out as being excessive, with its lack of vertical design the main issue rather than absolute size.
Nintendo’s impressively compact devices are perhaps less impressive when their inferior technical capabilities are taken into account, though they are at least inexpensive.
By far the most impressive of these is the PS2 Slim, a unit Sony still seems keen to sell, with some speculating that their refusal to release full PS2 emulation for the PS3 is in fact a ploy to prop up the PS2’s viability…
Is not slim but just a little short.
…Its not so slim… lol. The thing has SO many things going on. Bluray, built in wifi, and other things, and they want it slimer, its fine by me.
Slim and Flat…just how i like my l♥♥i.
i hate this racist crap. for example if a white guy seem beating a black guy he will be sued with racist but is it perfectly fine if a black guy beat up a white guy
Umm.. If you’ve ever looked at sony’s marketing record, you’ll see nothing but failures in advertising.
– Racist PSP billboard ads where a white person is dominating over a black person.
– Sony’s own website where they were actually trying to perform side by side comparisons of Gran Turismo HD vs. Project Gotham Racing 3, claiming their screenshots were so much better while the PGR3 screens were crap. Unfortunately they didn’t bother to check the better screenshots they were promoting, were actually the PGR3 screens.
– A fake PSP “fan” site, promoting the handheld as a cool multipurpose device. It was easily determined that site was made by sony’s marketing staff.
– Decapitating a real goat just to serve soup from it’s body to promote God of War II.
– Gran Turismo poster that includes a rear shot of a car, but it includes PGR3 in the license plate. Which means it’s an image from stolen from Project Gotham Racing 3 again.
I can list more, but it just keeps on going, and it would take an eternity to describe the stupidity of sony marketing staff.
