With the recent announcement of the Queen’s Blade anime, I thought it timely to have a look at the actual game books (especially with regard to their alluring art). The books actually have their roots in D&D and similar, and circuitously found their way from the western tabletop RPG scene to their current popularity as collectible ecchi artbooks.
Most of the characters seem to have difficulty keeping their pantsu (or fundoshi) in place.
Stella doesn’t even bother wearing them anymore.
Claudette here has possibly the best drawn stomach I have ever seen in this style of illustration – fantastically done.
There isn’t really much to say about story, character, and the like, as these clearly aren’t the focus, though they’re certainly present at some level (perhaps this is putting it kindly).
Some of the images are quite witty, and the illustrators tend to be of a high quality. Ecchiness is generally all of the level you see here. They make entertaining enough character artbooks, but little more. They have also given rise to plenty of gorgeous figures.
All tastes are catered for, though fans of delicious cake will be disappointed.
Personally, the lack of variety in art and theme detracts for me (the emphasis on huge breasted girls who can’t keep their pants on wears thin after a while, although the various demonesses are well carried off), but I’m sure this is merely a matter of taste. Also I can make no comment on the actual game, having not played it (anyone who’s played it by all means leave your thoughts), though I wonder at just how many books are actually sold for the gaming uses…
where is Nanael D:
f♥♥k
Princess Yuumil is the best..
You mean, people actually buy these books without the intention of playing them??? Thats crazy!!
The game is quite fun, it’s based off an English game called “Lost Worlds” which is basically the same I think only Queens Blade has much more entertaining characters. The game is a lot of fun, it involves two players picking a move and then flipping each-others books to the corresponding page numbers to get a result. It can be quite complex at times as weapons can be disarmed and later retried, Alice of Queens gate has guns which need reloading and Airi the maid drains hit points with physical touch. I have a lot of fun playing it and if you can read Japanese and have friends who can also read I highly recommend trying it.
The angel jumped up in rage when she lost all the matches with the she-monkey 😛
