Queen’s Blade’s saucy maid Airi has been modelled in the form of an unusually large resin statue, enthusiastically exposing her underwear, which of course happens to be removable and seems unlikely to be seeing much use as a result.

What do you do when you want to copy another country’s efforts to recreate a giant robot that has been part of its identity for years as life-size statue-cum-tourist trap, but find you have none of your own?

In China’s case, simply copy some other country’s robotic icon, in this case resulting in an impressive life-size rendition of Optimus Prime.

Giant Gundam Dominates Shizuoka


The 1:1 monster RX-78-2 Gundam formerly menacing Tokyo has been re-erected in Shizuoka with upgraded armament. Below the animatronic statue can be seen in detail, as ever striking a particularly impressive figure against the night sky.
